Mt. Biking: Around Felixstowe Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny and warm Max Speed: 17.99 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 13 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Tuesday 30th March - walk ***** - Felixstowe seafront – sunny and
still.
With wall-to-wall sunshine forecast and temperatures expected to break 20
degrees we wanted to make the most of the day. So, we get up early and
headed the short distance to the sea front in hope of a good sunrise and we
were not disappointed. We were greeted by an orange sky and as we reached
the prom the red ball started to appear:) Walking to the pier to take some
photos we passed a large group who had come down for a sunrise drip in the
North Sea which was nice to see, shame they were playing loud music and
shouting which rather spoilt the ambience :( After getting some nice pics
we were pleased to move away from the noise as we headed towards the
Fludgers. A large lorry with a crane on the back squeezed onto the prom at
the Spa to put huts back onto the beach! We entered the Spa gardens to take
a look at the new wicker family which are marvellous lots hope they can
survive the vandals! Back along the cliff top with good views and the sea
like a mill pool:) So a fantastic start to the day.
Tuesday 30th March – bike ***** - Around Felixstowe including lunch with
‘Emily’ – sunny and warm
Breakfast and exercises in the warm sunshine, Mag packs a picnic and we set
off on our bikes at 11.45 biking inland skirting the Grove park with the
sky a deep blue and very few people about. We stop and talk to the field of
calves in Ferry Lane having fun in a small pond. Then down Marsh Lane to
Kings Fleet and up the bumpy track to our favourite seat at Falkenham
Church. We spend an hour here having a relaxing lunch watching the birds in
the trees enjoying the view spotting a buzzard, long tailed tits,
chaffinches, partridges, pigeons to name a few. There are also butterflies
about enjoying the unseasonable warm weather! Well rested we get back on
our footpaths for the first time this year having now for the most part
dried out:) Kirton, followed by Trimley and onto our favourite tree lined
path back to Felixstowe spotting two herds of deer and a couple of resting
hare. Stopping off at Morrisons to buy a local paper as I have a pic in, in
fact I have had a good month with 14 photos being printed:) Then home for
the usual cuppa and scone. Tomorrow is looking the same so we might check
the low tide and perhaps have breakfast by the River Deben with Thursday
looking promising for a foil on the River Stour as the temperatures
drop!
